Draws using a list of names run directly on your device. In a lobby, the app and website share names and results through our server.

Website and technical logs

When you access the website, our server receives the connection data required to serve it, including your IP address, the time, requested address, browser information and response status. We process this data to provide, troubleshoot and secure the website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Technical logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted. In the event of a specific security incident, relevant entries may need to be retained longer for investigation.

Names, lists and results

In “With a list of names”, the random selection is calculated locally. These names and results are not sent to our server. “Save for later” keeps your current session, lists and results in this browser for 90 days, starting again with each visit. We use the functional cookie “snacktools_keep”, which lasts 90 days. It contains only a preference marker, not names or results. The content and expiry date are held in local device storage. After 90 days without a visit, the data expires and is removed when you next open the site. You can delete it at any time in Settings. Browsers may remove local data earlier, and clearing your browser data will erase it. Your personal lists are not synced between devices.

When you copy, export or share a result with another app, you choose the recipient. Any further processing is governed by that app's privacy terms. Only use participant information that you are entitled to use and, where applicable, share.

Other tools

Packing lists, recipes, date counters, timers, local polls, settlements and scores are also stored on your device. On the website, the same 90-day period applies. Images and QR code content are processed on your device and are not uploaded. The website does not store this content permanently. In the app, created images and QR codes stay in Saved until you delete them there or in Settings. Data is not currently synchronised between devices. Public pages and application files may be cached in your browser so you can open tools without an internet connection after your first visit. Lobby responses, logins and uploaded files are excluded from this offline cache. In the app, you can select a date for a home screen widget. This is passed locally to the widget extension. With your permission, timer reminders are scheduled locally on the device.

Microphone in the tuner

The tuner accesses audio only after you start it and grant microphone permission. Pitch is calculated directly on your device. Audio is neither saved as a recording nor uploaded. Microphone access ends when you stop or leave the tuner. The instrument, tuning and reference pitch are saved as local settings.

Shared lobbies

When you create or join a lobby, we store your chosen name, a random participant ID, lobby settings, results, polls, expenses and scores on our server. In anonymous polls, the group sees only the vote totals. Each vote stays linked to its random participant ID on the server so that the person can change their vote. Other people in the lobby can see names, results, expenses and scores. In polls that show names, individual votes are also visible. More people can join with the invitation code unless the host closes the lobby to new members. Choose a name you are happy to share with the group. Lobbies expire no later than 24 hours after creation. They then become inaccessible and are removed during the next automatic cleanup. When the host ends a lobby, its active data is deleted immediately. Results already copied or shared remain with their recipients. Your personal lobby access is stored on your device so you can rejoin after reloading. The server stores only a verification hash of this access. To prevent abuse, we count requests using temporary hashed identifiers. We do not use analytics or advertising services for lobby data.

Cookies, fonts and advertising

The public tools do not load analytics or advertising services. Fonts are served from our own server. The admin login uses the WordPress cookies required for authentication and sessions. Visitor accounts are not currently offered.

Language

We remember your language choice on this device. You can change it in the footer or in the app settings.

Contacting us

If you contact us by email, we process your message and contact details to answer your enquiry. Depending on its content, this is based on Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We delete the data when the enquiry is resolved, unless retention obligations require otherwise.

Your rights

Subject to the legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Manage local data

You can delete your saved lists and results at any time.
